Hoffman Estates, IL is an affluent suburb located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The city is governed by a Mayor-elected City Council form of government. Currently, Bill McLeod is the Mayor of Hoffman Estates and the members of the City Council are Jeffery J. Franke, Jamie L. Clementi, Alyssia Benford, Charley Johnson, Robert Gedicke, and David Fichtner. All six members of the council are elected on a nonpartisan ballot for a four-year term and serve staggered terms so that three seats are up for election every two years. As part of their duties they oversee the budget and set policy for the city as a whole. They also work closely with staff members to make sure that all city departments run smoothly and efficiently while upholding public safety in their community.
